Book Publishing Experience


·        Writer   free-lance    2002-present
     I wrote two 40-page books–The Mexican War and Francisco Coronado– in The Child’s World’s Proud Heritage-Hispanic Library series (2003).    


·        Developmental Editor/Photo Researcher     free-lance   1999 - present

I currently edit manuscripts for major publishers as well as individual authors. In 2002 I was project editor for three children’s library book series: Artist Biographies (Enslow, 2002), Internet Library (Enslow, 2003), and Proud Heritage-Hispanic Library (The Child’s World, 2003). The latter involved obtaining a total of 160 photographs for the 8 books in the series.

I acquired and edited 16 hardcover and trade paperback titles per year (some heavily illustrated) on a variety of nonfiction subjects.  I negotiated all contracts, presented my books at sales conferences, and wrote catalog and book jacket copy.  I also developed numerous ideas for books and found authors to write them.

I oversaw design, art, copyediting, proofreading, indexing, and blues, and did developmental editing and line-editing on problem manuscripts.

I edited and supervised copyediting, proofreading, and design for manuscripts commissioned by educational publishers in the natural sciences and medicine.
